My name is Xavier and I’m a New York City based artist who expresses his passion through the medium of light.

My journey in theatre began in high school. Freshman year I injured my foot mid cross country season and was unable to finish the season. With a newfound abundance of free time, my English teacher, who was the theatre director, offered me the position of stage manager on the upcoming fall play. The experience was electrifying and from there I was hooked.

I graduated and continued my theatre education at Purchase College, earning a BFA in Lighting Design. At Purchase I realized there was a way to combine my artistic ambitions with my dream of working in theatre professionally. The medium of light felt really natural because of its abstract properties. Designing with light was my next big leap in what I wanted to do, and who I am as an artist.

The summer before my senior year of college I began to work with lasers. (full story on the Beauty and the Beast section of my laser page). Laser and special effects work is when everything clicked. For me, it’s the perfect combination of technology and artistry. Though lasers are commonly associated with “clubs”, I believe they’re a powerful artistic tool and can be used for many other purposes.

Recently, I’ve begun to get into photography as well. Capturing a landscape or subject has helped me advance my knowledge of light and use it in different ways. Photography encourages adventure and pushes me to apply my artistry anywhere and everywhere.

In my free time I’ve reconciled my relationship with running. In fact I’m training for a half marathon! I also have a passion for movies and love to break them down and rank them.
